Easiest solution is to skip Adobe... they've continually disregarded market "prices" for their products for years (even MS grew up to the fact that you can't charge end users $750 per license for Office when free alternatives exist). There are legitimately better applications produced by smaller companies as well as Apple without having to spend this kind of atrocious amount of money. Products from IMSI, Omni, etc. are cheap and very good. $650 for PS? Gimmie a break... it isn't worth 1/10 of that...
I'm using Adobe Photoshop Elements 9. For people like me it's an excellent product. It includes all the features someone like me (a keen amateur) needs and only costs 65.
Whilst Adobe's UK pricing is bordering on criminal, at least PSE is an affordable option.

woah that's a lot of screen space! Mind if I ask what your running the screens from and screen sizes?
haha...yeah, it is quite a bit of space. Left (21" HP f2105) and top middle (30" HP LP3065) are connected to a desktop PC that I use for work. I work from home and mess with a lot of spreadsheets and querying data so it's helpful having all the space to move stuff around. The vertical screen (24" HP2408h) is connected to my MBP via mini port to HDMI that I use mostly for personal use. The sad thing is I have a 3 or 4 more 21" screens in the closet. If I had the desk space I would hook them all up... :D

On a full sized computer? That's horrible. Adobe has to get their act together and make flash more efficient before they can be allowed on the iphone.
Well, yes. That's a point that's been repeated, and replied to, ad nauseum.
One more time:
Remaking Flash 10 for more efficient mobile use is exactly what Adobe is trying to do, with the help of ARM designers.
If it runs well, full Flash could become popular on mobiles* as a universal application development and delivery platform. If it doesn't run well, it'll have to wait until cpus get faster.
* With the probable early exception of the iPhone.

Any updates from Corvus anyone?
My wife and I are both alive and well, we only just got electricity back about an hour or so ago. Worst 4 days of our lives, but we got off lucky. Others lost everything, including themselves.
I appreciate all of your nice comments. But again, aside from power loss, my family and I are fine.
Let's keep an eye out for CorvusCamenarum, though. I'm genuinely concerned about anyone who was logged into macrumors (in other words, sitting at their computer) in Tuscaloosa at 5:00 yesterday and not in a basement or shelter.
It's a MBP on wireless internet. When it hit, I was hunkered in the interior bathroom with it, the cell phone, a flashlight and two very upset cats.

The link to the battery recall is changing. I've got at least 2 printout that do not match up! First time the link took me to Depot.Info and then the last time it took me to Support.apple.com. These links are slightly different.

I sympathise with lots of your points, but this one doesn't necessarily stand up.
Cost of an external hard disk to back up my entire music library (if I had bought it all from iTunes): Approx 40
Cost of shelving to hold all my CD's: Approx 200
I understand what you are saying and already realized that, like I said, I would love for iTunes to be my one stop shop for music, because it's more convenient. But their pricing is off due to such low overhead, that I shouldn't be able to buy physical media more cheaply.
My argument is has more to do with them not keeping accounts that you can access your purchased stuff from. It is more of the fact that I don't want to back up stuff 2 or 3 times over because if it is lost I wouldn't be able to get it again. Hard drives do fail quite a bit. I know there are circumstance of apple letting people download all their stuff once, but it should be something they would offer anyway.
Most of my original post would pertain to buying something like the Beatles Box set on iTunes. I could buy it on iTunes for $150 in digital format or go to Amazon get the real box set for $130 encode it in better quality if I desired and either throw the box set away, give it away or sell it for lets say $80, if I didn't want it taking up space. So it cost me $50, and I have the same exact thing I would have gotten on iTunes for about one third the cost (depending on what I sold it for). If you still think that buying that set on iTunes is the better value then that's fine. To me it just doesn't compare.
I didn't really mean to write a rant opposed to trying to make people realize that iTunes is not a good deal in many cases and they should not be charging what they do, but people are so blinded, it makes me wonder.
Don't get me wrong, on few occasions I do buy music on iTunes but I still think it is a ripoff because it is an all digital purchase.

I don't think Apple changed their assembly line until week 35. If the serial number of your Mac is less than WH8635, then I don't think it has the new heatsink.
how do i know witch week is my macbook
also the serial number is 4H640203Uxx
so i take it it is less then WH but my doesn't even start with WH anywhere in the serial number line

The very world/country you live in is build on greed, theft, slavery...and here's something new for you but your probably supporting it every day. But hey whatever you do make sure not to download anything you haven't payed for
Screw it i pay a monthly bill that allows me access to the internets...so in my twisted mind i believe that since i payed for the internets, everything that is downloadable is legit :D
so, because I live in the US I can't think something is morally corrupt?
That is an interesting perspective, especially since you have no idea what my political & moral beliefs are...

I'm stopping at the Apple Store after work to (hopefully) get the 8GB. I wish it came in other colors. I really like the pink and the green.
They are in stock there already?

Those who design websites with Flash are just lazy and poor web designers. Fortunately, those sites are becoming more and more rare.
It's video (YouTube, et al) that Flash has a stranglehold on.
I want HTML5 video to become standardized too, but the problem is, on what? QuickTime? Windows Media? It could very well end up much worse than Flash.
As someone who has worked with all kinds of websites, this post is nothing but pure foolishness. How is a flash website being lazy, or a result of a poor web designer? It's much more difficult to be a good actionscript coder than it is to throw together some HTML tags with some CSS applied. You've got to be kidding. Also, some of the coolest looking websites I've ever seen were done entirely in flash. Flash allows you to basically create interactive apps in a web browser. It can be a great tool.
On the other hand, most flash sites aren't very good just because of the fact that most websites are not very good. A bad site does not become a good one in flash. So sure, many flash sites can be bad, but the platform itself is neutral. Great Flash programmers make amazing sites. Period.
Also, asking if HTML5 will become standardized on Quicktime or Qindows Media shows a complete lack of understanding on the topic. Quicktime and Windows Media are not codecs and nothing at all would be "standarized" on containers.
Please take care to learn how these things work before talking about them in such a manner. It is frustrating to see.

I think you are right. Didn't it just get axed in europe? That may lend some credence to the iSight in the Cinema Displays.
If they put an iSight in the Cinema Displays and axe the stand alone iSight that would mean you would have to buy an ACD just to use the video stuff with the Powermac/Mac pro AND the mini. I wouldn't put it past them to do that but it would kinda suck. There have also been rumors of the IR reciever for Front Row being put in the ACD. If they didn't also put one on the Mac Pro, Front Row would be useless without an ACD hooked up. I agree with the above poster that we are all reading too much into the poster but oh well, it's fun. We'll all find out soon enough.

So you're saying it is race, but not because of racism, but because of genetics? If it's genetics then how does it explain the successful blacks like your president among countless others?
Aw yes, our president, Mr Obama.
People tend to forget he is not full black, he is not black black, the man had a white mother, and had white grandparents who helped him excel in his studies. His African father left him when he was 2 years old and never came back. Everything he learned came from his white family, he was raised white, therefore him being successful and becoming president
If he would've had a black mother then the outcome would've been quite different, I can reassure you
I don't want to be viewed as a racist but rather a realist who takes factors into account, it's the sad truth

If you look at the picture of the iPhone poster, it seems to have a couple of subtle differences compared to my iPhone:
I think you're right about the home buttons on the iPhone. Here's a picture of one from the apple website, and the one from the macworld poster.

Lenox Mall one in Buckhead. Here without a car, so it has to be something I can Marta to. I got there early this morning and the sign was already up that they were out of stock for the day.
If you have an idea where I could look let me know. I'd love a 64 gig black ATT ready Ipad2. Many coworkers have either the original or the newer iPad and I'm ready to hop on that train.
Try www.milo.com, that should help you locate one in your area.

i think that this is great news. i use my ipod to go over my notes before tests at school and shopping list etc. also in the process of making my notes i thought it would be handy to be able to either use the text to speech command in tiger on the ipod, or to be able to have a free converted to rip text files to an audio format similar to the program that features at&t voices only minus the $29 to get it ( i forget what the app. is called). ebooks are great i know my apt. space is 90% books and i've always thought that paperless books were the way to go. less space and ultra portable. hope to see this in the wide screen ipod. also... if they go touch screen it would be great to be able to edit text and use the dictonary command too. oh man this is going to be soooo cool :D
