Typical machead responses on this thread:
microsoft wireless media player - aww that's sooo stupid...
apple wireless media player (when it comes out) - aww that's sooo cool...
now go drink your kool-aid everyone...:)
When 60 million people are drinking the same kool-aid, common sense would tell you it's great and you should give it a try :)
edit: and before you say that MS has 90% of the computing environment and i should try that kool-aid because it must be great. I did try it and it's skunk water!

It's only 20 more now than a same-spec white one. Cheaper than before I think.
I was just about to post this. The UK store appears down for me at the moment. This is based on the edu price (the UK edu store is up for me).
I'm teetering the edge of buying the black one. If that price was for a 1x1GB memory config I'd be a lot more tempted.
I think I can wait until the MBP 13.3 that will be announced in January (alongside the touchscreen ipod). :D

No one is making you pay for CS 5.5. Just wait and buy CS6, CS7, etc as you normally would have.
That isn't the issue mate, the issue is that Lion is around the corner and I'll bet my bottom dollar Adobe will damn well use their launch of 5.5 to justify dropping support for CS5 when it comes to Lion. So what does one do - hold back on Lion so one can keep with CS5 or upgrade to CS5.5 just to get Lion support? don't think it isn't going to happen - look at CS4 and the fact it took MONTHS for Adobe to finally fix the data corruption bug in Fireworks where it would crash on exit when running on Snow Leopard.
Sorry, I want to move to Lion as soon as it is released because there are some friggin awesome features that I really like but there are scum sucking a-holes like Adobe who will use it as yet ANOTHER reason to milk their customers.
Adobe keep whining about Apple and how they keep getting 'screwed over' and yet when are we going to see Adobe stop screwing over its customers, both Windows and Mac OS X, using the ever so slightest system change to justify charging an upgrade when what they should be doing is issuing updates and supporting their products for up to 5 years like Microsoft does (Adobe is a big enough company to carry that cost).

So can someone explain to me why they have to get Verizon's permission to offer system upgrades over the air, when you can already go in the app store and download Angry Birds over the air? Seriously, this would be a security boon to be able to push updates without tethering them to a computer. Many people don't sync their iPhones for weeks at a time, but they are on them daily. If you can push out security updates sooner, then it is a good thing for everyone involved. And I would wager there's waaaaay more bandwidth being sucked up by iTunes and the App Store than system updates would require.

I was really thinking about an iMac, but I'm considering a Sony Vaio laptop with an IPS monitor from a 3rd party. I'll definitely wait to see what Apple comes out with this week, though.
Whenever anyone posts on here that they're thinking of going Windows, a lot of people either shout TROLL! or say: fine, goodbye.
I still feel like it's a shame to leave Macs behind. Still, again I have to say that Windows 7 offers a lot more to the Mac-learned creative community than any other version from Microsoft.**
**Other than maybe Windows 2000 pro in its heyday... nice solid system that got out of your way.
Then why are you not buying the iMac?

What were the plans with dealing with the millions of other Americans who've lost their jobs in this last recession?
Oh, that's right, there were no plans. All those people were expected to figure it out for themselves.
I'd suggest that those who's careers are based on maintaining our military can file for unemployment and search the want ads just like everybody else.
So your solution to our money problems is to throw more people onto the unemployment dole.
I'm all for cutting the military budget but drastic cuts will hurt more than help.
When did we stop doing sane things in this country?

I like Flash video, but find flash interfaces and text presentations dreadful. No matter how pretty they look, they feel forced and inaccessible. I just want to get back to web page ASAP. Is there a way Adobe could make a light Flash phone plugin just for video?

*WARNING* The following post was posted without me having read the previous 7 pages of posts.
I use to have an eReader. It was excellent for reading books in bed. Unfortunately, you couldn't read books in the bath, at the beach, in sunlight, or anywhere where you could drop it. Actually you could pretty much only read books in bed.
eBooks aren't the future, they are the past. There is a reason the craze didn't take off last time. You just can't beat a book.

If your serial numbers don't work but they should...
I was just on the phone with Apple for about 45min to an hour (waiting). My battery serial number wouldn't take. The guy said it was because the page is bogged down. So you may want to save yourself a phone call and just wait until tomorrow, the next day, or late at night or something...

Way back when, I asked my mother to buy me the first Beatles album, Meet the Beatles. I remember being home, sick in bed, home from school and she came home with the bag. I was so excited. I ripped it open (ripped meant something very different in 1964) and out I pulled : The Buggs: The Beetle Beat (note spelling)........my friends laughed at me
that sux :( my friend found out her brother liked the beatles so she thought she would buy some for him. she went on itunes about 3 mo ago and bought an album. brother see's it and says thats not the beatles....heart break :(

So here's my question - if they're eliminating the "suite" package and eliminating upgrade pricing aren't they killing the current FCP editors who use all of the other suite apps? Currently FCP 7 charges $299 for the upgrade. So if they're eliminating the upgrade price and I want to upgrade 3 of my systems I have to pay $299 for FCPX and then an additional $700? for the other apps for each system? I've just gone from an upgrade cost of $900 (3 systems) to $3,000!
Please tell me it ain't so!
In my opinion the quote was very vague I think it left open the possibility that the price is $299 for the whole suite, maybe it's just wishful thinking.
Here's the quote - "We've had upgrade pricing, we've had Final Cut Express, we've had Final Cut Studio - so we decided that we wanted to really do away with all of that, we wanted to greatly simplify the pricing structure, make it very very easy for you decide if you want to get a copy of Final Cut Pro. So we've decided to make it available for the amazing price of $299."
I think the mention of all those would imply that all of those are now the $299 price? Thoughts?
